SacRT Celebrates California Clean Air Day and Week Without Driving with Free Rides on Bus and Light Rail

SACRAMENTO, CA — In celebration of California Clean Air Day and the Week Without Driving, the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is offering free rides on its fixed-route bus and light rail services on three select days starting next week, Monday, September 30, 2024.

Riders can enjoy free rides on Monday, September 30 and Sunday, October 6, 2024, with a free ride flyer as part of the Week Without Driving challenge. SacRT is also offering free rides on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, for California Clean Air Day, no flyer required.

“We are proud to support California Clean Air Day and Week Without Driving by offering free rides to the community,” said Henry Li, SacRT General Manager/CEO. “This is a great opportunity for people to try transit, reduce their carbon footprint, and consider making transit a regular part of their commute.”

SacRT is encouraging everyone to take the Clean Air Day pledge to do their part in reducing pollution. The pledge can be found at sacrt.com/cleanairday where individuals can sign up and remind friends to participate as well.

As part of the Week Without Driving, SacRT is providing a free ride flyer for the first and last day of the campaign, available at sacrt.com/freerideflyer (must present a valid flyer to ride free). This initiative aims to encourage more people to try transit and discover the benefits of a car-free commute.

“Week Without Driving is a great time for people to find out how safe, clean and convenient SacRT is,” said SacRT Board Chair Patrick Kennedy. “I hope our community will join me by leaving their cars at home and hop on a bus or light rail train!”

About California Clean Air Day
California Clean Air Day, an initiative launched seven years ago by the Coalition for Clean Air, encourages everyone to take action to improve air quality and protect public health. Fossil-fuel transportation is the single largest contributor to air pollution in California, and by choosing public transit over driving, individuals can play a key role in reducing harmful emissions.
